Barbecue Areas

An idyllic barbecue area near the forest and the Gunten stream. A covered and an open grill area with tables and benches for ca. 35 people, a toilet, water trough, electricity (extra cost) enough room to play ball, table tennis and a small children’s playground are available.

How to get there
The barbecue area can be reached easily from the bus or boat stop in Gunten or by car. Parking spaces are available 50 meters from the barbecue area on the Schönbergstrasse.

The barbecue area is situated directly on a hiking trail between Oberhofen and Sigriswil in Erizbühl. The grill, tables and benches are under a roof and can hold up to 25 people. A beautiful fountain provides drinking water and a simple toilet is also available.

How to get there
The barbecue area can be reached by bus nr. 24 from the bus stop Aeschlen ob Gunten, Dorf and 10 - 15 minutes walk or by car, from Thun to Aeschlen and then along Erizbühlweg. There are two parking lots near the barbecue area. Other cars must park at the school house in Aeschlen.

A large barbecue area is located in Schwanden above Sigriswil.  It is situated in a very quiet area.  There are three large grills.  The area can accommodate up to 50 people.  A covered area can hold approximately 25 to 30 people. For people who want to barbecue without a reservation, wood is available in a special machine. For 5 CHF you will receive matches and wood.

How to get there
Take the bus Nr. 24 to Schwanden Säge and then walk for about 15 minutes up the hill. If you take your car you can park at Schwanden Säge and then walk up.

This barbecue area is located in Merligen near the edge of the forest and offers a unique view over the lake and to the mountains. The covered area can accommodate up to 80 people, about 40 places of them are covered. There are two grills (wood is available), a fountain (potable water) and a toilet.

How to get there
Coming from Thun you follow after the town sign for Merligen about 1 km. At Restaurant Kreuz you turn left into Stockhornstrasse. Coming from Interlaken after the town sign for Merligen you follow the street about 1 km, at Restaurant Kreuz you turn right into Stockhornstrasse.
You follow up the mountain as far as you can see a big tree (poplar) on your right side and a fountain. You follow another 30 m. There you turn right in direction to the forest, follow the sign.
About 5 min. walk and you will see the barbecue area. There is no car park.
